“Critically acclaimed for being an innate instrumental prowess,” violinist Hyunjoo Choo is praised for displaying “technical assurance as well as showing effortless virtuosity with her beautiful tone” by several critics. At age 11, she made her concert debut with the National Symphony Orchestra and has since appeared extensively as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician at major international venues including performances at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, the International Tongyeong Music Festival, the US Chamber of Commerce, the International Hall of Flags, the Korean Embassy, throughout the United States, Korea and Europe.

A winner of numerous international and national awards, Hyunjoo was a laureate and winner of the Enrico Costa Prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition at age 16.  In addition, she was a winner of the Best Interpretation of a Work of Marteau at the International Henri Marteau Violin Competition, and awarded grand prizes at the Young Virtuoso International Competition, New York Music Competition, and the Korean Music Competition, where she was also honored with the Korean Ambassador Award, among many others.

At the age of 9, Hyunjoo entered the Juilliard School of Music.  She received her Bachelor of Music degree as a Barbara and David Jacobs Scholar from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and her Master of Music from Seoul National University.  She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree as a Barbara and David Jacobs Fellow at the Jacobs School of Music.  Among her mentors are world-renowned musicians including Ricardo Cyncynates, Alexander Kerr, Jaime Laredo, Young-Uck Kim, and Dorothy DeLay.
